PYRAMUS & THISBE

A Hullabaloo Production

Do you remember Pyramus & Thisbe? The romantic tragedy that Bottom & his theatre troupe, The Rude Mechanicals, performed in A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM for the Duke of Athens?

In this interactive theatre show, the audience helps add the finishing touches to create a completely original version!

Combining Shakespeare’s text with brilliant ideas from the audience, adding music, props, puppets, & killer dance moves - the end result is a completely fabulous and totally unique performance!

This show is part of Hullabaloo’s POP-UP SHAKESPEARE, where we reimagine some of Shakespeare’s most iconic characters and stories and work them into new narratives that the audience helps us build.

The perfect combination of original Shakespeare text and new ideas.

At Hullabaloo, we are passionate about making theatre accessible to kids and encouraging on-your-feet, wild, inventive fun where they can get creative, discover some hidden talents, and learn some of the best theatre ever written.

Our shows encourage kids to use their imagination as they help to construct characters, songs, stories, sound effects and more. Each show follows a simple narrative structure that the audience help to construct, enhancing their storytelling skills and exposing them to the infinite possible storylines a tale can take.

The end result is a silly, structured, accessible and totally unique show that they feel they have contributed to - leaving them with a huge sense of pride in their comedy and creativity.

So many kids approach Shakespeare with fear. It gets thrust upon them as teenagers, with a sudden expectation to understand it - Feeling overwhelmed, feeling that it’s not for them. But what if they were exposed to it earlier?

We believe that the earlier kids are exposed to this great wordsmith, the better.

We believe the sooner kids are exposed to its familiar language and great stories, the better.

And we believe the sooner kids realise this man was awash with bum jokes, elaborate costumes and silliness, the better.

Each show exposes children to some of the finest and funniest of Shakespeare’s language, which will hopefully lead them to view Shakespeare as something fun, exciting and accessible.

And this really is a pop-up show that can happen anywhere. So if you think a bit of Shakespeare and silliness will fit into your party venue or event, get in touch!
