I was kicked of my A level Theatre Studies course for arguing with my tutor.
He insisted that first and above all else, theatre's role was to educate. Even if it was at the expense of your enjoyment. I wholeheartedly disagreed. It didn't go well.
My ultimate aim is to do both. But if you're having a terrible time, I highly doubt you're going to learn much.
I am a writer and actor, originally from Oxford, and have been writing and staging my plays since 2011.
I staged my first project, SEIZE THE DAY at the Oxford and Camden Fringe. I then toured TREADING WATER and A HEAD FOR HEIGHTS at regional venues across the country.
I staged HOLDING as a rehearsed reading at the SOHO theatre in 2012. I then staged small sections from the play as R&D at The Cockpit.
In 2017 I staged REPETITIVE BEATS at the Vault Festival. The play has since been commissioned for adaptation and will be in production hopefully soom, with the plan being to play at the Edinburgh Festival - If we're allowed back.
In 2018 I revived TREADING WATER for the festival circuit and small regional theatres. We actually played at the smallest theatre in the country!
Then 2019 I wrote a new play DEAD END. Which we performed at Vault Festival .
2020 has been a bit of a write off. But not to be beaten, I am staging a children's show CHRISTMAS IS RUINED at The Cockpit. Socially distanced, of course.
